Cookies and browser storage

T-place uses cookies and browser storage to keep you signed in, protect your account, save your settings and keep lessons working. This page explains what is stored and how to clear it. We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies.

1. The public website

The public website at tplace.co does not set its own cookies. It has no advertising or social tracking pixels, and fonts are served from our own servers. The cookies listed below are used by the T-place app.

We use Vercel Web Analytics to understand how people use the website. It does not use cookies, store data in your browser or track you across websites.

Lesson previews may load YouTube thumbnails from Google before you press play. This sends Google your IP address and browser details, and Google may set its own cookies. The video loads only when you press play, using YouTube’s privacy-enhanced domain.

2. Cookies in the app

These cookies support sign-in, security and access to protected files. They are used to provide the functions you request.

3. Data stored in your browser

The app also stores data directly in your browser. Unlike cookies, this data is not attached to every request; the app reads and uses it when needed.

Student assignments. We store an assignment access token (participant_tokens), draft answers (session_answers_…) and, for timed assignments, the start time (session_timer_…). Drafts help students resume interrupted work and are deleted when submitted. Unsubmitted drafts remain until the site’s browser data is cleared, though they are no longer used after the assignment ends. Access tokens expire with the assignment; expired copies are removed when that assignment is next opened or the site’s data is cleared.

Preferences and layout. The browser remembers your interface and teaching languages, AI preferences, translator languages, dismissed notices, panel and folder states, toolbar position and where to return after a class.

Registration. While you confirm your email, the browser keeps your name, email and language choices (tplace.registration_stash) to help complete your profile. This record is valid for 24 hours. An expired record is removed when next checked, rather than automatically at expiry.

You can clear this data in your browser’s settings for the site. Clearing both cookies and storage signs you out, removes unsubmitted drafts and resets saved preferences.

4. Cookies and consent

We do not show a consent banner for cookies needed to provide a function you request, such as signing in or opening a protected file. Third-party content may use its own cookies, as described above.

If we add tools that require consent, we will ask before they run and update this policy.
